Simone Says: Sweet and Green Make the Perfect Team

I’d like to introduce a new term for this blog: a Flog (food blog in case you didn’t figure it out). It’s pretty common for me to refer to this as my flog… “This is definitely flog-worthy”. Whoever I’m with would agree as I would snap a photo… and here I am, uploading it to the flog.

At my camp, I got the chance to take a trip with my age group to Washington DC and the Baltimore area. We got to go sightseeing, paddle boating around the monuments and visited some schools. Of course, we had to eat, and we had some great food. Across the four days, we had many salads and a few ice cream cones thrown in there.

Day 1: a harbor in Maryland had a shop where I had an oriental salad, which was lots of cabbage, oranges, sprouts, chicken and it came with a peanut vinaigrette. It was really good, as it was a very hot day and this was a nice refreshing lunch.

That night for dinner, I had another salad. This place allowed you to pick your ingredients and put them all together. The flavors in the salad blended well, which made this dinner really enjoyable.

On the last day of our trip, we got to go to Georgetown to walk around, shop and get lunch. Since I know Georgetown so well, I dragged my walking group to my favorite salad place, Sweetgreen. It was such a great treat to myself (especially cause I got many of the extras which made it extremely expensive for lunch). In this salad, I got chicken and quinoa, fruit, and veggies. I got a slice of multigrain bread which was great too.

On this trip, not everything I ate was green. My friends and I went to a cupcake and bake shop in Georgetown, Baked and Wired. I was so excited to show my friends my favorite places in Georgetown and this was definitely one place to show off. I bought my favorite, the strawberry cupcake. It was a great treat for myself

So after this trip to the DC area, I’m happy with the outcome. Lots of great food, one big cupcake and all my friends getting to try my favorite places in Georgetown, which was the best part.
