As my last post was in May, I decided it’s about time to share about my summer travels and my summer munchies. From here in New Jersey, to the west coast, I made it around the country in just a few weeks, and had quite a few great meals while at it.
Way back on July Fourth weekend, I was in Ohio to visit family. Besides being Ohio and in the middle of the country, I did have a great meal there. We went to this super cool place with a Brooklyn vibe. It was Italian food, and instead of getting a salad or some healthy stuff like that, I got this incredible pizza… Summer body, am I right?! We also happen to get dessert, which was an assortment of these cakes in a shot glass type container. Here’s some snippets:
This four-cheese pizza came with a fluffy crust and great seasonings that made it an incredible entreé.
On either end was this blueberry cheesecake and in the middle was chocolate moose. Both were very different, yet they complemented each other very well.
After Ohio, for the first half of my summer, I took a trip with other people my age to the west, which included Zion and Bryce National Park, the Grand Canyon, Las Vegas, Park City, Utah and all over California, including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Lake Tahoe, and Santa Barbara. I made incredible friends, and they learned to keep an eye out for a meal or two that I can “flog” about. Here are some highlights:
When in California, go to In-N-Out Burger!!! I got a classic burger and it was really good, considering I don’t ger burgers very often, especially from a fast-food chain.
In San Fransisco, you have to go to the original Ghirardelli shop. Since my trip was paying for whatever we got, I splurged on a Coffee and fudge sundae. 10/10 recommend.
In Santa Barbara, we went to State Street, which is filled with stores and lots of food. My friends and I fell in love with this smoothie place, called Blenders. They also have acai bowls, and, although expensive, I got one with bananas, chia seeds and honey drizzled on. Amazing.
Lastly, we went to Universal Studios, where my friends got a box of these awesome donuts. I didn’t even know that donuts and bacon went together.
This trip to California was just the beginning. I went on many more adventures this summer, some athletic adventures to work off those donuts, and some consisted of laying on the beach in Malibu. Pretty nice, huh.
