Someone once said “There is no sincerer love than the love of food”, which I can personally relate to. Food brings people together, from family gatherings to a night out in the city. For me, I spent my best friend’s birthday on the Upper West Side eating balls when we went to the Meatball Shop. I give this place a great rating because I was satisfied as well as incredibly full when I walked out. My friend who was having the birthday ordered in advance, which was a package of varying types of pasta and meatballs. We started off with salad – lots of it – and then the meal came out; three plates of different pasta dishes and meatballs. Everything came in threes- three big salads, three plates of the different types of meatballs and three of the different pasta plates. Then they brought out (very quickly) bread strips, and then meatballs with Parmesan cheese in a white sauce and meatballs in a red sauce with mozzarella cheese. By this time of the meal, we were all stuffed, but nope, they weren’t done bringing out food. They brought out two types of pasta: a flat wide noodle in a pesto sauce and short tube pasta in a white sweet sauce.
We were all in good spirits after this meal – the love of food is indeed very sincere. The restaurant seemed compelled to feed us more than we should’ve eaten, especially when they came out with their (apparently famous) ice cream sandwiches, which were incredible. Wow.

The ice cream sandwiches came with these warmed-up chocolate chip cookies with either vanilla or chocolate ice cream in the middle. My friend with the birthday had a candle in her sandwich.
Since we happened to be on the Upper West Side, luckily Insomnia cookies was a few doors down, so we took a quick stop to the cookie chop to get a box of fresh cookies to take home.
This is only one of the two huge boxes that we got; we got a lot of chocolate chip, sugar, snickerdoodle, double chocolate chip and some oatmeal cookies. They were warm and fresh, which made them really enjoyable.
It was a good day of eating. Thanks, meatball shop, for a great lunch.
