Look at me! I started this blog a year ago from today, and little did I know, I would actually be sticking with it for awhile. Lots of calories I’ve consumed, lots of (mom and dad’s) money spent and loads of happiness I’ve gotten from the meals I’ve had. From Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Florida, my summer camp, my pool club and even my own kitchen, gourmet and “flog-worthy” food can be found anywhere.
Highlights such as Stockholm’s cider beer and fresh salads, Copenhagen’s Glass Market, Florida’s ocean-side lunches, and s’mores beside the campfire made this past year a lot more yummy. Within the next twelve months, I will be travelling all over California, I hope to be going to Israel (do I hear falafel?!) and I’ll be taking many more trips to New York City for birthday dinners and the occasional Sunday brunches.
As summer is coming closer and closer, the fro-yo runs are becoming more and more frequent, salads by the pool are being ordered more often and ice cream is a must when the temperature reaches beyond 90 degrees.
Anyway, of course you want to see some food in this post, so I’m going to share a few tasty meals and snacks that I’ve had in the course of the past week.
My favorite salad from the salad bar at my country club topped with avocado and strawberries. Watermelon complimented my salad and I enjoyed an iced coffee too.
Besides being a lot of fro-yo in this cup, it was really expensive too (oops!). I had a mix of strawberry, caramel, Nutella, cookies and cream, and pink lemonade frozen yogurt, topped with strawberries and chocolate chips. Weird mix of flavors, I know, but who cares!
Just last night, I ran into a Mister Softee truck and I got vanilla ice cream with a hard chocolate shell on top.
Back in Stockholm, Sweden, my favorite thing I saw on the street was a window packed with freshly baked bread. Trust me when I say this: it smelled so good and I would’ve gotten a big loaf just for myself if I didn’t have a big lunch right before that.
Another awesome bit of food I had was at the Spice Market in New York City, a high-end restaurant that my friends and I celebrated a birthday for a friend. These are spicy Thai chicken skewers – super good.
In a few days, I’ll be going to a few barbecues, some birthday dinners in the city (hint: Tao Downtown!) and getting ready for my summer in LA, Lake Tahoe and the national parks around that area in the west. I’m super thankful for summer, as watermelon is in season, eating outside happens often now and there are no complaints.
So, live well, sleep well and eat well this summer. Soak up every ray of sun and make some s’mores. I hope this upcoming year brings great food for me. Bon appetit!
